I am Siddhartha Pal — a Bengali author who refuses to write the same book twice.
Born and raised in South Kolkata, my schooling took me through the corridors of Naktala High School and Jodhpur Park Boys' School, before I headed north to earn a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. Engineering taught me to think in systems. Writing taught me that the best stories break every system imaginable.
Today I live in New Jersey, USA, with my wife, son, and daughter — yet every story I write is rooted in the soil of Bengal. Its lanes, its light, its people, its contradictions. You can take the writer out of Kolkata, but Kolkata never quite leaves the writing.
I came to fiction through social media — a late start, perhaps, but an honest one. My stories have since found their way into multiple Sharadiya magazines and literary anthologies, and I have authored seven books spanning science fiction, spy thrillers, crime fiction, comedy and the supernatural.
I write because the world inside my head is too crowded to stay silent. I write in Bengali because no other language sounds quite like home.
If you enjoy stories that keep you up past midnight — welcome. You are in the right place.
